Here is a quick guide for different browsers on how to create and remove an app button on the Android start screen.
Launch Chrome for Android and open the website you want to plug into your home screen. Tap the menu button. Press "Add to homescreen".
You can enter a meaningful short name for the shortcut (e.g. "SafePlaceBerlin" or "Motzstrasse") and Chrome will add it to your start screen.
The icon appears on your home screen like any other app shortcut or widget, so you can reorder it wherever you want.
Chrome for Android even loads the website as a "web app" when you type the icon: This way it is displayed like an APP, without browser elements and you have more space for using the form.
Other popular Android browsers also offer this feature.
For example, Firefox for Android does this by simply tapping the menu button.
There select "Page option" and then press "Add to screen".
To remove a website shortcut from your device's home screen, simply press and remove it like any other app icon.
